England - Oxford

The 'Hall of the Queen’s Scholars at Oxford' was founded in 1341 and today is called Queens College. Initially it was open to all, even the 'poor', with a preference for students from Cumberland and Westmorland and later Yorkshire. The college prospered and was increasingly successful in turning out impressive scholars. Today it is one of the more popular colleges.
